The question of the "Economische Voorlichtingsdienst"

The EVD wanted to know how they can support the international ambitions of the group Life Sciences companies and scientists in the most effective manner. They require more knowledge about the export of the potential and ambitions of the Dutch Life Science sector and which barriers are in place.

What InnoTact did

After clearly marking out the concept of Life Sciences, they provide a clear overview of the sub-sectors that make up the Life Sciences sector and the types of product that are made in the various sub-sectors and in which industries these products are used.
A connection is made between sub-sectors and the scientific disciplines which form the basis of this. The various knowledge institutes have different accents in their Life Sciences research. InnoTact relates these to the various sub-sectors.

InnoTact describes the organisation of the Life Sciences sector from an industrial perspective and from a regional perspective.
A key position in the research is reserved for national themes that the Life Sciences sector responds to. Themes such as sustainability, high crop yields using less crop protection means, safe food products, reliable diagnostics, etc. InnoTact analyses how the developments within the various sub-sectors can provide concrete context for these themes. The special significance of the Life Science products for these national themes becomes clear.

InnoTact explains the level and development of the export of the Dutch Life Sciences companies and what this export is made up of. The main barriers encountered by the Dutch Life Sciences companies are carefully checked with the companies. Other aspects of internationalisation that are dealt with include: import, direct foreign investments, international technological cooperation and competitive position.

The result

The EVD has an insight into all key aspects of the Life Sciences sector that are important in order to determine their current and future export potential, and which tools are required to create the greatest effect in respect of advancing the further internationalisation of the Life Sciences sector.
