M.B.M. (Maarten) van Dongen, PhD

Vision forms the basis of Maarten’s work and mindset. He has a natural talent for linking insights, people and organisations. He uses his contextual expertise, years of international experience in the field of Life Sciences and his resolve to jointly develop and realise the wishes of the clients.

Maarten studied at the University of Groningen and obtained his doctorate in (bio) chemistry at the University of Amsterdam. He carried out some of his doctoral research at the Medical Research Council in Cambridge (UK). Before he founded InnoTact Consulting he worked with Solvay Pharmaceuticals in Weesp and at Pharming in Leiden. His work at Pharming included setting up two new bio-technology companies in Finland and Belgium respectively. He followed a management development programme at the IMD in Lausanne and is a member of the Dutch IMD alumni.

With more than twenty years professional experience in the Life Sciences arena, Maarten has a broad perspective of the European Life Sciences sector and a corresponding comprehensive international network. He was one of the pioneers who explored the up and coming Indian Life Sciences sector and initiated the development of the expertise centre BioPortEurope. Maarten regularly holds expert lectures at symposia and guest lectures at the Universities of Leiden, Utrecht and Amsterdam.
